JVC DVD player symptoms

The disc appears to be playing, but there is no picture or sound getting through to the television. You turn on your DVD player and get no response from any functions. An error appears when loading the disc or the device won't read from the disc. Playback of movies is not smooth, with distorted pictures. The disc skips or jerks when being played. You press the eject button and the tray doesn't open/close or the tray fails to stay closed. These symptoms will prevent the player from functioning, but can be easily repaired.
